Internal Regulations
of The Observatory for Human Rights
Art. 1 – Purpose and objectives
These Regulations govern the organization and activities of the project The Observatory for Human Rights (hereinafter “OHR”), a private non-profit initiative aimed at promoting and protecting fundamental human rights through research, documentation, and awareness-raising.

Art. 2 – Mission
Our mission is to protect and promote human rights through research, advocacy, and dissemination.
We act to:

document human rights violations in an accurate, transparent, and accessible way;

analyze the systemic causes of injustice in order to propose effective and sustainable solutions;

amplify the voices that are often silenced or ignored.

Art. 3 – Volunteers

Individuals who share OHR’s values, sign the Volunteer Agreement, and the Privacy Policy may collaborate with OHR.

Volunteers contribute personally, spontaneously, and free of charge, without any subordination or economic compensation.

The main activities of volunteers include:

research and drafting of articles/reports on human rights cases;
-
translation and text revision;
-
content creation and support for social media channels;
-
other activities agreed upon with the Team.

Art. 4 – Rights and duties of volunteers
Volunteers have the right to:

receive guidelines and operational instructions to carry out their activities effectively;

be valued and recognized for their contribution;
-
obtain certificates of honor or references for their work.
Volunteers undertake to:
-
respect the principles and values of OHR;
-
maintain fairness, confidentiality, and reliability;
-
respect deadlines and commitments within the limits of their availability;
-
collaborate in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect.

Art. 5 – Organization and coordination

Activities are coordinated by the OHR Team, which assigns tasks, provides guidelines, and supervises results.

Volunteers must also comply with the instructions contained in the Volunteers’ Guidelines*, an operational document that supplements these Regulations and is periodically updated by the Team.

Official communications are carried out via e-mail or through agreed digital platforms (e.g., group chat, project management tools).

Art. 6 – Code of conduct

All collaborators must maintain behavior consistent with the project’s values: respect, inclusion, accuracy, and independence.

The dissemination of confidential information or non-public materials without authorization from the OHR Team is prohibited.

Content produced by volunteers remains the property of the project and may be published, distributed, or modified by OHR in line with the stated objectives.

Art. 7 – Duration of collaboration

The duration of the collaboration is established in the Volunteer Agreement and may be terminated at any time by either party with written notice (including via e-mail).

In the event of termination, materials already produced and shared with OHR remain an integral part of the project.

Art. 8 – Privacy Policy and personal data processing

OHR processes volunteers’ personal data exclusively for purposes related to the management of the collaboration, in compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).

Data collected may include: name, surname, date and place of birth, address, e-mail/phone contacts, as well as any data functional to the collaboration activities.

Purposes of processing:

management and coordination of volunteer activities;
-
sending communications related to the project;
-
issuing certificates, attestations, or references.

Data will not be disclosed to third parties, except as required by law or at the volunteer’s express request (e.g., use as a reference).

Legal basis of processing: the volunteer’s consent and the fulfillment of obligations arising from the Volunteer Agreement.

Retention: data will be kept for the duration of the collaboration and, subsequently, for the time strictly necessary for administrative purposes or for the recognition of the activity carried out.

Rights of the data subject: volunteers may at any time exercise the rights provided for by Articles 15–22 GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability) by writing to: theobservatoryforhumanrights@gmail.com.

Art. 9 – Acknowledgments

Upon completion of their activity, OHR may issue certificates of honor or letters of reference attesting to the volunteer’s commitment.

Volunteers’ contributions may be cited in publications or reports, subject to the volunteer’s consent.

Art. 10 – Updates
These Regulations are prepared by the OHR Team and may be updated at any time.
Any changes will be communicated to all volunteers and integrated into the Volunteers’ Guidelines*.

*The Volunteers’ Guidelines will be provided to volunteers after they have signed the Privacy Policy, the Internal Regulations, and the Volunteer Agreement.
